Who’s
that at The Door? At the Tiki you won't find a Rent-A-Cop
or some hired hand at the door. Instead on the weekends
it is probably Vicky and her best friend Debbie. They
spend the evening checking I.D.'s, picking up glasses,
wiping down the tables and generaly keeping things
in order; and when need be, asking A-Holes to leave.
(You don't want them around, do you?)
Because the Tiki-Ti is so small, it gets very crowded
on the weekends and a long line to get in. How long
do you have to wait? Could be five minutes, could
be 20, there is just no way of knowing. So, unfotunately
until someone leaves, no one can come in.
Please
don’t argue with the door person, it won't do
any good and may take longer for you to get in. It's
a thankless job, and those who do it are volunteers.
Why? Because they love the Tiki-Ti, and it is their
home away from home, and also the rule is WE
CARD EVERYBODY (It says so on the door!)
There are also a few others that help out, mostly
regulars, so if they ask you for your I.D. please
co-operate. (And if you are waiting outside, please
don’t ask for a sip of their drinks or block
the door.)
If
you treat the door person with respect, they can be
a great help to you, especialy first timers.
